One of the seven new wonders of the world is in Jordan, the oldest city of Petra, which has a history of almost three millennia. The city, whose name is derived from the word "rock", is indeed entirely carved out of the rock. Numerous temples, colonnades, tombs, baths and much more are skillfully carved out in the rock. In total, there are more than eight hundred historical monuments.
