The eponymous island of Aogashima was formed as a result of volcanic activity. The volcano has not erupted since 1700, but is still considered active. About 200 people live right next to the crater. To see all the beauty of this place, you need to go to the peak - more than 430 meters above sea level. You can only reach the island by helicopter or boat.
