In the Pacific ocean, there is a conditional point that is farthest from any land. The closest to the earth is at a distance of 2688 km. This place is also called the pole of inaccessibility. The next "pieces" of land is the uninhabited Ducie atoll, Motu Nui island and the island of Maher.
The point got its name thanks to the hero of the novel by Jules Verne "20 thousand leagues under the sea". It
is interesting that the orbit of the International space station can pass over the Nemo point, so sometimes the nearest populated place is about 400 km away, but not on Earth, but in space.
