Almost the entire Asian part of the country lies within the geographical area of Asia Minor. The elevated Central regions are bounded by the mountain ranges of the Pontic mountains in the North and the Taurus system in the South, with the mountains forming many smaller ridges that frame a fairly flat Central part.
