# Venezuela, Mount Roraima
Mount Roraima — the lost world of the gods. Why the lost world? Because in the 18th century, it was assumed that relict life forms — including dinosaurs-could survive on the tops of such table mountains. Why the world of the gods? Because Roraima isn't really just a mountain. In general, these are several dozen mountains called tepui Roraima. And in the Indian language, "tepui" means " house of the gods."
It is a mountain with peculiar interesting vertical slopes and flat peaks, — one of the oldest in the world. Representing the remains of a long-eroded plateau, it is composed of very hard sandstone. These hard-to-reach, remote cliffs rise above the surface, forming bizarre, unearthly shapes.
