Lake McDonnell on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia is an amazingly beautiful landscape. On one side the road is bordered by the sea, on the other by a salt lake. 
Algae give the water an unusual color.Under normal conditions, they are green, but at high levels of salinity, light intensity and a certain water temperature, the pigment beta-carotene begins to accumulate, which leads to the appearance of a pinkish-crimson hue.
