The Great Karnak Temple of the supreme deity Amun was founded in the 16th century BC in the capital of Ancient Egypt, Thebes, on the eastern bank of the Nile. This is the largest temple complex of Ancient Egypt and the main state sanctuary of the New Kingdom (XVI-XI centuries BC). In the New Kingdom, the ancient Greek god of the sun (Amon-Ra) was considered the patron saint of the capital Thebes. The construction lasted more than 1300 years! And about 30 pharaohs contributed to the creation of the complex.
