🇹🇷Amasra, Turkey
Amasra is a very ancient place, which can be seen even by the name of the city, named after the Persian princess Amastris (niece of the last Persian king Darius III), who founded it around 300 BC. Amasra remained a city throughout its subsequent history, as part of the Pontic Kingdom, Roman province, then Byzantium, and from 1261 was a Genoese colony until the Ottoman Turks gained full control over Anatolia in 1460.
