🇷🇺Russia, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Mahar River and the Mahar Gorge

The Makhar Gorge is located in the south-west of Karachay-Cherkessia and borders Abkhazia. It stretches for several tens of kilometers along the Mahar River. This is an untouched corner of nature with mountain ranges, glaciers, waterfalls, impenetrable forests and healing springs. When you get here, you get the feeling that this is the wildest and most alive place on the planet.

During the tour of the beautiful gorge, travelers will meet mountain peaks, lakes, windbreaks, a noisy river with suspension bridges over it, logs and rapids. Narzan springs are especially valuable for health, of which there are several in these places. The height of the Mahar Gorge is approximately 2km above sea level.

It is better to break the trip to this gorge into several days to explore the most interesting points, visit waterfalls and mountain lakes, to which you need to walk at least a few hours.
