🇩🇿Algeria, Tassili N'Ajjer

Tassili N'Ajjer is a mountain formation located in the Sahara, in the southeastern part of Algeria. Since 1982, the site has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In addition to its unusual and amazing forms, the mountainous region also has historical value. Rock carvings, petroglyphs and archaeological excavations indicate that people lived here already in the Neolithic, about 9 thousand years ago, when the climate was milder, and there were savannas instead of deserts.

The National Park with a total area of 80k km2 is protected by the state. Tassili N'Ajjer is also a biosphere reserve. But to a greater extent, interest in the park is manifested for geological reasons. Sandstone formations that have been subjected to erosion for a long time now resemble a stone forest, or landscapes of Mars. Most of the rocks have bizarre views, and each is unique in its own way. In addition, there are about 300 natural arches.
