Pierrefonds — is an ancient battle castle of the XV century, an important cultural and historical landmark of France. The chateau is located on the southeastern edge of the Compiegne forest, near the town of Ville-Cottreux. The large-scale history of the building covers not only the period from the XIII - XV centuries, but also earlier French periods, starting from the XII century. For some time the castle was a ruin, but later it was restored, rebuilt and used for its intended purpose. The castle of Pierrefonds has been depicted in many feature films, for example, "The Double-headed Eagle", "The Man in the Iron Mask" and "Merlin".

The interiors of the castle do not have a single style: medieval halls turn into an imperial study and bedroom in the spirit of the Second Empire.
