🇦🇹Austria, Stairway to Heaven
This dizzying staircase is part of Via Ferrata on the Donnerkogel mountain in Austria. Translated from Italian via Ferrata means "iron road". In fact, this is a route laid along a rocky slope with safety cables, and in some places with metal steps. The term became popular after the First World War: a network of routes was built in the Italian Dolomites to make it easier for soldiers to move at high altitudes. Now these trails allow tourists who do not have climbing skills to get to the picturesque peaks.
The "Stairway to Heaven" is 40 meters long. It is located 700 meters from the ground.
The "iron Way" accelerates the ascent, but it is easier for some travelers to climb rocks than to walk on an artificial structure.
The "Stairway to Heaven" got its name because in most cases it looks exactly like that in the photos - like something leading from nowhere to nowhere.
