The center of spiritual and cultural life of Buryatia, an architectural monument, a key attraction of the republic — all this is about the Ivolginsky datsan. Datsan is a Buddhist temple complex that includes a monastery, a university, as well as other religious sites.

Ivolginsky datsan occupies an honorable first place among Buddhist temples in Russia. Its full name in Tibetan sounds like this: "Rivo Gandan Geje Dashi Choinkhorlin", which translates as "The Abode of the Perfect Wheel of Learning, the Mountain that Multiplies the Virtues of Tushita". All guests of the datsan note that there is a sense of calm, joy and positive emotions on the territory of the temple.

In 2002, the datsan in Ivolginsk became the "home" of one of the greatest wonders of the whole world. The incorruptible body of Lama Etigelov was transported here, which has not been decomposed for almost a hundred years.
