Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, Kolsai lakes
A system of 3 lakes in the northern Tien Shan, in the Kolsai Gorge. The lakes are located on the territory of the Kegensky district of the Almaty region of Kazakhstan and are located 10 km north of the border with Kyrgyzstan.
Kolsai Lakes are a unique place for mountain recreation. Kazakh nature has created a real miracle, which people called the "blue necklace of the Tien Shan". The reservoirs are unimaginably beautiful, and the nature surrounding them impresses with its greatness. The water in the lakes is clean and transparent.
Lakes were formed as a result of a natural cataclysm. After a strong earthquake, a mudslide descended in the mountains, which formed a natural dam in the gorge. The mountain river filled the hollows that appeared, but a small channel still remained. The lakes are still connected today by the Kolsai River. The territory of unique reservoirs is recognized as a national park.
