Belgium 🇧🇪 , Hallerbos Blue Forest
Hallerbos is a picturesque place, which is a beech forest with an area of 552 hectares (5.5 km2). It is located in the Belgian municipality of Halle on the border between Flanders and Wallonia, a 30-minute drive south of Brussels.
The forest is known for its extraordinary beauty, which envelops it in the spring – every year in late April and early May, several hectares of forest are covered with a magnificent thick carpet of millions of bluebells (wild hyacinths), creating bizarre patterns of all shades of blue. The ultramarine blanket extends deep into the forest as far as the eye can see, circling around trees, covering valleys and decorating the banks of streams. It is very popular both among Belgians and among foreign connoisseurs of beauty.
The Blue Forest acquires a special charm at dawn – at this time the area is enveloped by the morning dawn, and the thick fog further emphasizes its mysterious and surreal atmosphere.
