Once upon a time, century-old majestic spruce trees grew in the Kungei Alatau gorge. However, in 1910, a powerful earthquake caused a landslide that blocked the flow of the river. The river, looking for a way out, began to fill the gorge with water, absorbing huge fir trees one by one. But their roots were already firmly clinging to the ledges of the rocks, and large stones kept them from falling. The seething water, rising 25 meters, calmed down, winning back part of the possessions from the forest and turning them into a mountain lake.
