Armenia 🇦🇲, Khor Virap Monastery
The Khor Virap Monastery in Yerevan is located next to Mount Ararat — it is one of the most revered Christian buildings and a famous place for Armenian pilgrimage. Ararat, although located on the territory of Turkey, is also a sacred mountain, because, as the Bible says, it was here that Noah's ark ended up as a result of the Flood.
Historians attribute the appearance of the monastery to the middle of the XVII century. The construction of the Church of the Most Holy Theotokos, located in the center of the monastery complex, also dates back to this period.
The monastery has a magnificent view of Mount Ararat and you can take impressive photos. It is recommended to come to the monastery of Khor Virap in the morning, because in summer, during the daytime, it is very hot and there are a lot of people.
