Switzerland 🇨🇭, Chillon Castle
The Chillon Castle is the most famous attraction not only of the Swiss Riviera, but also of Switzerland as a whole. The fortress is located near the town of Montreux.
The Chillon Castle is built on a low rock near the shore of Lake Geneva. The fortress can be divided into two parts: the first, residential, is located on the side of the lake, and the defensive – on the side of the road. In total, the castle complex includes 25 buildings of different construction times.
As an exceptional heritage monument, the Chillon Castle has about 300 exhibits. With the exception of furniture, weapons and armor, all the items presented here were found during archaeological excavations carried out in the castle from 1896 to 1903. The collections belong to the Cantonal Museum of Archaeology and History of Lausanne under the name "fonds Chillon" (Chillon Collection).
