London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom, as well as one of the greatest cities of our time. 

London has been the center of political power and court life for centuries. It is all the more surprising how the pomp of the monarchy coexists with the daily life of millions of people.  

It is curious that the famous London "Big Ben" is not a tower at all, contrary to popular opinion. "Big Ben" is the name of the bell tower installed there, and the tower itself is called "Elizabeth"
