🏝️Mauritius 🇲🇺, Pamplemus Botanical Garden named after Sir Sivusagur Ramgoolam
🔶There is an attraction in Mauritius that is impossible not to visit. This is the Pamplemus Botanical Garden. The oldest garden in the Southern Hemisphere was founded in 1770 by the French plant breeder Pierre Poivre.
🔶The area of the park is 37 hectares. There are about 500 species of plants here — one is more wonderful than the other. At the entrance, you are greeted by a giant baobab, which is not even covered by four. The tree is about 250 years old. Since baobabs "live" to the age of 1000 years, one can imagine its size when it is "retired".
🔶The most impressive exhibit of "Pamplemus" is considered to be "Victoria Amazonskaya" — the largest water lily in the world. The diameter of the sheet can reach 2 meters! It is able to withstand a load weighing up to 30 kg. A child can easily ride on such a "boat". The underside of the leaf is covered with thorns, which gives it a menacing appearance.
