Romania 🇷🇴, Sighisoara City

Sighişoara is a medieval town with fortified walls on the Tarnava Mare River in Transylvania. Once there was a Roman city here, then artisans and merchants settled, Saxons from Transylvania, and the famous Vlad III Tepes, known as Count Dracula, was born here. His house now houses a restaurant.

The medieval citadel is entered through the clock tower, one of the nine surviving towers, and once there were 14. The clock tower was built in 1360 to protect the main gate, in 1604 a clock appeared on it.

In the southern part of the citadel there is a cathedral with a wonderful interior, where traces of frescoes of the XV century are still preserved. People still live and work in the citadel, the streets and houses have been preserved in a wonderful condition. Narrow cobblestone alleys wind past the houses of artisans and wealthy merchants, painted in pink, greenish and yellowish-ochre tones. Sighisoara fully deserves the title "pearl of Transylvania".
