🏛️Greece 🇬🇷, Melissani Cave
🔶There are places in Greece that have amazing beauty and attractiveness. Many of them are shrouded in secrets, myths and legends. One of these places is the Melissani Cave. It is located on the island of Kefalonia, about two kilometers from the city of Sami. The origin of the cave is associated with a complex geological karst process, thanks to which rocks are dissolved by water. For many millennia, underground and surface waters have made their own passages, destroyed the calcareous rock and formed a cave underground. Part of the cave space is occupied by the underground lake Melissani, whose age exceeds 20 thousand years.
🔶Today, everyone can explore the cave. In 1963, in order to provide easy access to the lake, a tunnel was laid in the rock. It leads underground to a pier with rowboats, on which tourists are taken to the far part of the cave.
