Iceland 🇮🇸, Northern Lights

🔶One of the best destinations for observing the Northern lights is Iceland: an island in the Atlantic Ocean near the Arctic Circle, lying at 65° north latitude. Compared to other Nordic countries, Iceland has a relatively mild climate - in winter in Reykjavik, the temperature rarely drops below minus five degrees.

🔶The northern, or rather, the aurora borealis (because it also happens in the Southern Hemisphere), is most often observed in winter, simply because it is dark and it is remarkably visible in the black sky.
However, it can be observed at any time of the year, including in summer, if the nights are not very bright. In summer, it is difficult to notice it due to the fact that the daylight lasts for 20 hours (in the northern hemisphere) and it is almost invisible in the light of the sun. And in the southern hemisphere there are practically no populated places located close enough to the south Pole.
