Russia 🇷🇺, Baikalsk, Pomegranate beach

There is an unusual beach on the outskirts of the city of Baikalsk in the Irkutsk region. Garnet he was nicknamed because of the unusual red-maroon shade of sand - this is the color of sand due to the fact that it contains the natural mineral garnet almandine.

Pomegranate Beach stretches for several kilometers, but its width is only 5 m. Baikal is splashing on one side of the beach, and there is a swamp on the other. It is good to walk here and enjoy the views, as well as take pictures.

However, according to local residents, over time there is less and less red sand and it gradually mixes with yellow, thereby losing its hue. It is best to come here at sunset — in the rays of the setting sun, the sand acquires a rich red color.
