China 🇨🇳, Zhongshuge Bookstore

The Dujiangyan Zhongshuge bookstore in Dujiangyan, China, with an area of about 975 square meters, was designed by Li Xiang, founder of the Shanghai architectural studio X + Living, and opened in the fall of 2020. The designers used elements such as spiral staircases, curved arches and numerous mirrors to create a stunning illusion of infinity. Just look at the interior photos to feel the otherworldly world of this place.

Large, arched walnut bookshelves dominate the space, but this is an endless illusion created by the mirrored ceiling and shiny black tiles. It is done so flawlessly that even knowing the secret of the illusion, it is still impossible to see where the real sticks begin and where they end.
