Russia🇷🇺, Khakassia, Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP

The Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP is the largest operating hydroelectric power plant in the entire territory of the Russian Federation, built on the Yenisei River. It is also one of the ten most powerful power plants in the world. The whole complex consists of the SSHPP itself, the coastal spillway and the Main hydroelectric complex located downstream.

The name of the hydroelectric power station came from the Sayan Mountains and the village of Shushenskoye. The construction of this structure took 37 years. Downstream of the Yenisei River is the Sayano-Shushenskoye reservoir and the state Nature Reserve of the same name.
