Burano is an island in the northern part of the Venetian Lagoon, located 11 km from Murano and Venice. This is one of the most picturesque places in Italy, famous for charming colorful houses, traditional lace and great cuisine. In fact, Burano is a fishing village with a population of about 2,000 people, thriving thanks to tourists from Venice who come here to buy lace, as well as photograph colorful houses and picturesque canals.

It is said that the tradition of painting houses on Burano in this way is connected with the heritage of the island as a fishing village - bright colors made it easier for returning fishermen to find their homes in the thick fog of the lagoon. There is also an opinion that Burano residents prefer bright paint as a separation, where one property ends and another begins.
