Saudi Arabia🇸🇦, Madain-Salih
Madain Salih is a pre-Islamic excavation site located in the Al-Madina region of Saudi Arabia.
The complex consists of 130 massive rock tombs and associated structures. During the heyday of the Nabataean Kingdom in the first century AD, these places were incorporated into the Roman Empire. This is one of the most outstanding examples of the construction of hydraulic structures of that time, as well as the most valuable historical heritage that has survived to our times.
During its heyday, the Nabataean kingdom extended from its capital, the city of Petra, to the present territory of Jordan deep into the Arabian Peninsula. Here lay the largest trade routes, along which spices, frankincense and other aromatic plants were transported. Madain Salih has reached its peak as the main transshipment point between the trade routes of the north and the south.
