Switzerland🇨🇭, Helmer funicular
The Gelmerbahn is a funicular railway in the Hasli Valley in the Swiss canton of Bern.
Connects the village of Handegg (altitude 1400 m above sea level) with Lake Helmer (1850 m above sea level).
Until the end of 2017, the Helmer funicular with a slope of 106 percent was considered the steepest in Europe.
And if you sit down successfully, you can experience feelings akin to "cheerful horror" when riding on the roller coaster, which in Russia are called American, and in the USA — Russian.
The Gelmer funicular itself was not originally conceived as a tourist attraction. It was built in the 1920s in order to deliver construction materials and workers needed for the construction of a dam on Lake Helmer.
In 2001, the lift was converted into a passenger funicular — the views from it were very picturesque, it was a pity not to use such potential.
An open lift car lifts 24 people in 10 minutes to Lake Helmer, located at an altitude of 1,860 m above sea level.
