Strasbourg is a city located in the north-east of France, on the right bank of the Rhine. It is the main city of the Alsace region and the Bahrain Department. The city has been the seat of the Council of Europe since 1949 and the European Parliament since 1992. Strasbourg has the title of the European capital and the capital of Europe.
The city borders with Germany, so it combines the culture of the two countries. Its rich and turbulent history can also be traced in its remarkable cultural heritage. The city center, located on a Large Island, was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, on its territory there is the famous Notre-Dame de Strasbourg Cathedral and the Petit France quarter. Strasbourg has also become a symbol of the Franco-German truce, however, as well as the whole of Europe.
