Russia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Dukkin Lakes

Dukka Lakes are one of the most visited in the vicinity of Arkhyz. Located at an altitude of 2,450 m.n.m., they are opened from the ice earlier than others, for example, Sofia, Zagedan, or lakes near the passes of the Abishira—Akhuba ridge, and later covered with snow, so you can walk here from the beginning of June to mid-October.

There is no "better" time to visit the lakes: in early summer, ice floes still float on the black surface of the lakes (and this is a passion, how beautiful), then meadows and rhododendrons begin to bloom along the shores, and at the end of September, the gorges acquire a bright, saturated yellow-orange color.

All lakes are filled with clear water with a pleasant, blue tint. Sometimes the color of the water surface becomes saturated blue, or even completely black. Standing by the shore, you can see the bottom down to each small pebble.
