USA 🇺🇸, Monument Valley

Monument Valley is the territory of the Navajo National Park, located at the junction of the states of Utah and Arizona, is part of the Colorado Plateau

The status of a cult attraction in the USA and the picturesque Monument Valley gained worldwide fame thanks to the classic westerns of John Ford, who began shooting his films against the background of red rocks and sands since the 1930s.

The height of the valley floor ranges from 1500 to 1800 meters, the area of the territory is about 600 square kilometers. In the process of weathering and soil erosion, the soft upper layer of sedimentary rocks was destroyed, as a result, only sandstone remnants of rocks remained on the surface. The red color of geological formations is explained by iron oxide in the mineral composition of sandstone.

Monument Valley is characterized by a desert climate — cold winters and hot summers. During the winter months, snow may fly by, but no stable cover is formed.
