Germany 🇩🇪, Schwerin Castle

Schwerin Castle, built in 1845-1857 by order of Grand Duke Friedrich Franz II — the great-grandson of the Russian Emperor Paul I by architect Georg Adolf Demmler, is a real architectural treasure of the land of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Light, bright, crowned with many elegant turrets, Schwerin Castle is located in the center of Schwerin, on the Palace Island between the lakes Schweriner See and Burgsee and connects with the city and the palace garden by two bridges.

The castle is rightfully considered a symbol of the city and one of the most famous masterpieces of architecture in the style of romantic historicism in Northern Germany. Created in the image of the famous French Chambord Castle, the Schwerin Castle exquisitely combines elements of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance in its appearance, which makes it look like a fairy-tale palace.
