Netherlands, Amsterdam, Sluishuis residential complex
The Danish architectural studio BIG and the Dutch firm Barcode Architects presented a corner apartment building Sluishuis, which towers over Lake Hey in the unique district of Amsterdam Aiburg, which is located on artificial islands.
There are 442 apartments in the new residential complex. Due to the unusual shape of the building, some of the apartments offer unusual views of the lake waters.
The house is located on an artificial island and fully reflects the idea of life on the water. One of its blocks is raised, forming a large opening through which water from Lake Hey enters the courtyard. In the direction of the neighboring urban area, the complex descends in a cascade of landscaped terraces, creating a natural transition from the urban landscape to the natural environment.
The courtyard of the house can be reached by boat.
