Spain 🇪🇸, Ibiza Island, Dalt Vila

Dalt Vila was founded 2.5 thousand years ago by the Phoenicians. It was once one of the most strategically important cities in the Mediterranean region. During the Renaissance, the city was further fortified. Kings Charles I and Philip II built powerful walls around the city to protect it from attacks by the Turks and the French.

The old Town is located on a small mountain in the center of Ibiza, Dalt Vila translates as "Upper Town". Elegant and majestic, it has been perfectly preserved to this day. In 1999, it was recognized as an architectural monument and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Dalt Vila is practically the only fortification in Europe that has been completely preserved to this day. Today, the image of the upper part of the city is a symbol of the island of Ibiza.

Today, the fortress is part of the capital Ibiza, people come to the old town to see the sights, visit museums, sit in cozy restaurants and cafes, walk through souvenir shops.
