Turkey 🇹🇷, Antalya, Aspendos Amphitheater
Aspendos Theater is considered the most preserved Turkish theater. Built in the second century by Master Zeno, it could accommodate up to seventeen thousand people on its stands.
The theater consists of a front facade with five tiers, decorated with relief cutouts. You can enter the theater through huge doors with inscriptions or through a door on the central facade. The theater once even had a royal entrance with five doors.
In the niches in front of the theater stage, you can see the image of bulls' heads, wreaths and various fruits, and most importantly, the god of wine — Dionysus.
The Greek architect Zeno, who is credited with the construction of the theater, took into account all acoustic requirements. This is evidenced by the location of the stage and stairs. The arched gallery gives the amphitheater a special charm.
