Italy 🇮🇹, Polignano a Mare

Polignano a Mare is a town in the Apulia region in the province of Bari. This is one of the most beautiful and photogenic places in Southern Italy, a resort with pretty rocky beaches and a relaxed provincial atmosphere. Polignano a Mare is a charming seaside town located on the picturesque rocky coast of the Adriatic.

The city has a typically Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.

Almost in the center of Polignano a Mare there is a bay with a magnificent white pebble beach, surrounded by high cliffs and crystal clear water. The beach is called Lama Monachile or Cala Porto and is the main public beach of the city.

Polignano a Mare has an ancient, more than two thousand-year history. It is believed that in the 4th century BC the ancient Greeks founded the colony of Neapolis here. During the Roman period, Polignano a Mare was an important trading center on the way from Rome to Brindisi.
