Norway 🇳🇴, Lake Lovatnet
In the west of Norway, in the municipality of Strin in the Sogn og Fjordane district, there is a lake Lovatnet (Lovatnet). Its unusually green, mysterious color, especially bright in the sun, is explained by the glacial origin of the water.
In the narrow intermountain valley of Lodalen, the lake is squeezed by high steep mountain slopes with snow-white snow caps, blue glacier layers on the tops and waterfalls falling down. Its length is 11 kilometers, width does not exceed one and a half, the surface is at 52 m above sea level. Lovatnet discharges water into the Nordfjord through a river channel.
The lake is considered one of the most beautiful in Norway. The surrounding landscape is filled with drama, enhanced by the tragic history of local residents of the first half of the 20th century. Three times huge boulders broke off from the Ramnefjell rock, causing a tsunami when landslides fell into the water.
