Mexico 🇲🇽, Isla Mujeres (Island of Women)
Isla Mujeres is a popular resort island in Mexico. You can get here quickly by ferry from Cancun; but the atmosphere here is like on another planet. Francisco Hernandez de Cordova, the first European to visit Yucatan, gave the island a name meaning "Island of Women" (from Spanish mujer — woman) — he went ashore in 1517 and found clay statues of half-dressed women on the island.
Today tourists have come here more often, and yet the resort on the island of Mujeres has largely preserved the unique atmosphere of a sleepy fishing village, and prices here are lower than in Cancun. The island is only 8 km long and 2 km wide, but exotic animals are found here. The climate of the island is tropical, the sea is turquoise—blue and warm all year round.
