Namibia 🇳🇦, the flowering of millions of Sandhof desert lilies
Heavy rains that take place every few years in the Namibian desert cause one of the most impressive natural phenomena - the flowering of millions of lilies that stretch for tens of miles.
Desert lilies belong to the hesperocallis family, a kind of floral plant that includes one species, hesperocalis undulata. The flowers of this species are large, white with pink or green shades and very fragrant, especially at night. It takes heavy rains to wake up the desert lilies. The highest concentration of Sandhof lilies blooms on special occasions in southern Namibia and parts of Botswana.
