New Zealand 🇳🇿, luminous Waitomo Caves
The luminous Waitomo Caves are caves in northern New Zealand, known for their glowing firefly worms. The caves consist of many underground passages that can be explored on excursions.
In the dark, the ceiling and walls of the cave glow from the light of many glowing firefly worms, creating an impressive spectacular effect. In addition, underground rivers and waterfalls can be seen in the caves.
The cave is inhabited by amazing creatures — Arachnocampa Luminosa. These are fireflies that can only be found in New Zealand. Their green-blue glow makes the vault of the cave look like a starry sky on a frosty night.
