What you see is not an alien invasion at all, but a residential quarter in the Netherlands — an experiment by the Dutch architect Dries Kreikamp. These are 50 spherical residential buildings standing on the canal bank in the city of Hertogenbosch.

Each balloon house is a spherical structure made of fiberglass-reinforced concrete on a cylindrical base and is designed for one or two people. The diameter of the sphere is 5.5 meters. Inside there is a three—level living space with a spiral staircase, where there is space for a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen-living room and a small storage room.
