Italy 🇮🇹
Pompeii is a city frozen in time. It was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79. The eruption had been going on for two days when, due to a sudden change in the wind, a giant cloud of burning ash fell on the city, and it happened completely unexpectedly - most of the residents were caught off guard.
By an evil irony of fate, it was a terrible cataclysm that allowed us to see ancient life so clearly. Volcanic ash and stones that covered the city with a layer of several meters after the eruption allowed the ancient buildings to survive to this day. Even the flowers in the garden left clear prints in the ashes, as well as water droplets from the cooling system in the atrium. In some rooms, it was possible to find amazing, almost intact frescoes.
