Morocco 🇲🇦, ksar Ait-Ben-Haddu

Ait-Ben-Haddu is perhaps one of the most famous fortified clay settlements (ksars) Morocco. Almost unchanged since the XI century, it is a vivid example of the unique architecture of Morocco. Many also know this place as the cities of Yunkai and Pentos from Game of Thrones.

All the dwellings of Xar are built of red-brown clay. Houses with flat roofs are located on the hillside in terraces, the streets run horizontally and are connected by arches and narrow passages.

Due to its picturesqueness, the village was chosen for filming films. In various years, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, the Pearl of the Nile, the Last Temptation of Christ, the Mummy, the Gladiator, the Prince of Persia and others were filmed here.
