Hoi An is located on the banks of the Thubon River, for which it is often called Venice. That's just riding gondolas here is not offered by pumped-up gondoliers, but colorful granny Flip-flops.
Hoi An is now known as the Old City Museum, which has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1999.
This is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a small trading port that operated in the 15th and 19th centuries, which traded widely with the countries of Southeast and East Asia, as well as with the rest of the world.
