The boats in Zanzibar are called — Doe. Doe - sturdy teak boats with a characteristic triangular sail.

There are many forms of dow, the first ones were hollows with teak slats nailed on the sides, which formed the sides. There were no nails at that time and the boats were "sewn" with coconut fiber.

To preserve the traditions of Swahili, dow continues to be built on the Tanzanian coast. 

It is these boats that are now the main ones for Zanzibar fishermen, they also ride tourists on them.
