Italy 🇮🇹
The Church of Cristo Re in Sicily was built in 1937 by Francesco Barbaro and was conceived as a monumental tomb for the fallen. The temple stands on a hill with panoramic views, at an altitude of about 60 meters above sea level, on the site of an ancient castle.
There is a view of the strait and the city from the observation deck ahead. The Baroque building has an irregular octagonal shape with a large dome.
On the tower there is a bell with a height of 2.80 meters and a weight of 130 quintals, obtained by casting from bronze enemy guns stolen during the war of 1915-18.
The bell of the shrine is the third largest bell in Italy.
