Civita di Bagnoregio is a small town with a thousand-year history.

The silhouettes of ancient houses and towers look like a mirage on a high rocky hill in the center of the barren valley of Valle dei Calanchi. The fantastic landscape is complemented by a bridge floating in the air, which is the only road leading to the medieval castle town. 

The city of Civita di Bagnoregio (original name unknown) was founded by the Etruscans about 2500 years ago in a strategically important place at that time — on the road connecting Lake Bolsena and the Tiber River
