The architecture and design of the temple are a testament to India's rich cultural heritage. The temple is designed in the Dravidian architectural style, which is characterized by tall and intricately carved gopurams (entrance towers), mandapams (halls with columns) and elegant sculptures.

The gopuram of the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple is especially impressive, towering 41 meters and decorated with carvings with scenes from Hindu mythology, which depict various forms of Lord Murugan and his wife Valli.
