Ronda is one of the most picturesque cities in Spain and throughout Europe. The old city (La Ciudad, which means "City") and the new city are separated by a ravine more than 100 meters deep called El Tajo (which can be translated as "cutting through").

The most important link between the two districts is the 18th century Ponte Nuevo Bridge (New Bridge). It is also the most photographed building in the city and one of the attractions of Andalusia.
